Messy Mama creations and patterns
Indulge me, if you would.
We spent the last week up near the mountains, in Clarens in the Free State in South Africa. Partly on holiday, partly for a Christian conference held there, and partly to scout out the area with a view to moving there!
And here’s some of what I saw. I stopped taking photographs halfway through the week because I couldn’t help thinking that I’d be back before too long anyway……
These cosmos are just so pretty. They line the roads and fields like poppies in the UK. They made my heart smile to see them dancing away!
And there were pomegranate bushes at the farm where we stayed. Oh how lush!
I have no clue what this plant is, though…. It certainly intrigued me.
But this view. I don’t think I would ever tire of this view. I think I caught it at every different time of day, the way the light changed the colours of the mountains as the sun moved across the sky, and seeing the poplars as they were just on the edge of starting to change colour for autumn…..
This was our home for the week – I could step outside our front door and see that view and just BREATHE!
We were kept company by various creatures too. These geese were fun to watch, they would come and take a bath in the puddles left by the previous night’s rain.
And this truck. I don’t think anyone who has visited the farm has left without at least one picture of this old truck!
The weather was something else too. So so so hot (at least for us Brits, our Dubai teammates definitely had more clothing on that we did…!), but the rain when it fell was BIG rain. The first night we had hailstones the size of golfballs. And the lightning storms were spectacular!
We also went on some gorgeous walks, and the boys made a bunch of new best friends who gave them shoulder rides up and down mountains, played chase on the lawn, and raced leaves down waterfalls with them! What a week. Hope it’s not too long before we’re back.
